About

As Europe’s largest club festival and international platform for pop culture, once a year, we transform Hamburg’s Reeperbahn into the centre of the international music scene. Together with artists and visitors, we want to discover new talent, create special moments, and broaden our musical horizons. We are guided by diversity, sustainability, and gender equality. Moreover, we are a founding member of the Keychange movement and are committed to a 50/50 gender quota at festivals and in music organisations worldwide.

In 2023, we welcomed around 49,000 visitors over four days at 90 locations with an international programme featuring 475 concerts by 400 bands and artists from over 40 countries as well as 180 talks, podcasts, screenings, exhibitions, and interactive events. In addition, 3,000 schoolchildren attended the digital youth festival TINCON. Furthermore, the nationally renowned digital and social conference re:publica from Berlin also took place for the first time as part of Reeperbahn Festival.

ANCHOR – Reeperbahn Festival International Music Award

Every year in September, we present the ANCHOR, which is an international award for talented newcomers. For music fans and industry insiders, it provides orientation in the music market, and for the competition participants, it is a unique opportunity to launch their careers on the international stage. Past winners include Ukrainian artist Alyona Alyona, British indie rock band Yard Act, and German electronica duo ÄTNA.

Our programme

Our music programme offers concerts for every taste in genres ranging from indie, pop, rock, folk, and singer–songwriter to electronic, hip-hop, soul, jazz, and classical. In fact, long before their big breakthroughs, artists such as Bon Iver from America, Ed Sheeran and Lewis Capaldi from the UK, Sigrid and Aurora from Norway, and Annenmaykantereit and Kraftklub from Germany all played at Reeperbahn Festival.

With our Arts & Word Programme, we always reflect the zeitgeist and aim to illustrate the interdisciplinarity of various artistic genres through their intersection with music. In readings, podcasts, exhibitions, performances, and many other artistic formats, we deal with pop-cultural and social issues, such as various forms of discrimination, awareness work, and sustainability.

The motto of the 19th Reeperbahn Festival 2024 is “Let the Music Grow”.
